Dato’ Wan Hashim Bin Wan Jusoh embarked on his career with a focus on resource economics and development, beginning his professional journey after earning a Bachelor of Science from Universiti Pertanian Malaysia, which is now Universiti Putra Malaysia. His initial steps were taken at the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) in Kuala Lumpur in 1981, where he served in the capacity of an Assistant Director, marking the start of his long-standing contribution to the field of economic development.
His career saw him venturing to the United States as Deputy Director at MIDA Los Angeles between 1991 and 1995, followed by a return to manage duties as a Director at MIDA Kuala Lumpur until 2003. He later assumed roles in the U.S. again, directing MIDA’s offices in Boston and New York from 2003 to 2008. These experiences broadened his understanding and approach to inviting foreign investments and fostering Malaysia’s economic connections worldwide.
After his international stints, Dato’ Wan Hashim returned to MIDA Kuala Lumpur, where his journey continued from leading the Foreign Direct Investment Promotion division to eventually becoming a Senior Director in 2011. He held various executive roles up until 2017, gently navigating through the challenges of economic development and foreign investment. In 2018, his journey saw him joining the boards of ILB Group Berhad and AYS Ventures Berhad as an Independent Non-Executive Director, where he applies his years of experience by contributing to audit, risk management, and strategic planning efforts in a more advisory capacity.
